Inspiration from Portugal

A Journey to Portugal…….

One of my favorite places to visit is Porto, and I enjoy its exquisite food, music and warmth of the people. Everywhere you walk, there are panels of tiles, called “azulejos” on the walls of old buildings. I visited the Sao Bento train station, located in the center of the city, to admire the walls covered with azulejo panels that depict scenes of the history of Portugal.

Evenings are full of street performers showing their ability to act, dance and sing. It is pleasure to visit the local shops offering the best of Port, like sardines, cheeses, olives and bacalao, and freshly baked bread, and the well known “pasteis da belem”, (custard tarts) that sometimes people serve with cinnamon sprinkled on top.

Cascais. You will see a walking path with cobblestone design in Cascais, a trendy getaway on the Atlantic coast, well known for its picturesque beaches.
Sintra. Detail ceiling from the Sintra National Palace (Palacio Nacional da Pena), located on a hill top. This palace is the oldest European castle of the Romantic era, and is the most visited palace in Portugal.
